How commissioning really works is a half-day seminar that aims to help Development Producers and anyone else understand the complex world of Commissioning and how it works, so that they are better placed to win commissions. The course will look at recent commissions and commissioning patterns, and will also focus on the increasing importance of taster tapes, analyzing what is required to make them with maximum impact.
You’ll learn to understand better how a Commissioner thinks and what they need from you in order to consider commissioning your work. The course will involve you in exercises to develop your ability to sell and explain an idea persuasively. It will also reveal the influence of schedulers and scheduling, the importance of tone, and something of the art of selling. You’ll also learn the principles of making taster tapes, which are significantly different from programme-making.
Areas covered include:
Development Producers, and anyone wishing to know more about getting their ideas commissioned.
