This informal and interactive session will focus on understanding the Equality Act, Unconscious Bias, Positive Action vs. discrimination and why Diversity, Equality and Respect need to be an active and integral part of everyone’s role across a production.

  • The creative case for diversity – behind and in front of camera. Interactive seminar.
  • But I’m not racist…” – unconscious bias explained and Project Implicit case study demonstrating how we all have unconscious prejudices and their impact on our day to day decision making and behaviour.
  • Explanation of the Equality Act – what it means and how it affects our behaviour and language.
  • 9 Protected characteristics – beyond the definitions – why they matter.
  • Knowing what to do – identifying discrimination and inappropriate behaviour and language and how to challenge them.
  • Positive action vs. discrimination. How to make a difference.
  • Why is all this relevant to me? How to put into practice why Diversity, Equality and Respect need to be an active and integral part of everyone’s role in this Diamond era.

Cancellations must be in writing and must be received at least seven days prior to the course date or the full fee will be charged.
