Data wrangling: introduction

Data wrangling: intro is a one day course designed to give you a solid all-round introduction to data management in television. Backing up and managing tapeless media is a key role, and Data wrangling: intro will help turn you into the data wrangler or digital imaging technician who can do that job – and do it well.

About the course

You’ll learn how to manage data on any shoot successfully – giving you the confidence to handle tapeless workflows from the camera through to the edit. You’ll get excellent hands-on experience of the process, based on the Canon MPEG and Sony XDCAM (SxS) workflows.

Areas covered include:

  • understanding data, files and media
  • how transfer and backup hardware works
  • specifications of camera media
  • media, file and asset management
  • proprietary and third-party software
  • data corruption and how to deal with it

Loggers, runners, edit assistants, production assistants, researchers and self-shooters, and anyone with responsibility for data management on a television production

Cancellations must be in writing and must be received at least seven days prior to the course date or the full fee will be charged.
