Social media law

This is a full-day workshop looking at the main legal issues for those using social media as part of their work. It will involve case studies and practical examples to illustrate how the law works in this area. It will not just focus on the dangers that exist, but show those attending how to utilize social media to its full potential while avoiding the main pitfalls.

  •  An overview of the law and digital publishing including websites, blogs and social media
  • The reforms of the Defamation Act 2013 and how it helped those using social media
  • Privacy – what is protected and how we sometimes breach people’s privacy in what we post
  • Copyright –what is protected, who owns it and for how long? What are we allowed to share on social media?
  • Crime, the courts and victims – the conversations that can get us into trouble with the law
  •  Trolling and anti-social behaviour – what can we do to stop it and minimise harm?”

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be in writing and must be received at least seven days prior to the course date or the full fee will be charged. ITF reserves the right to cancel courses without liability, and delegates will be offered an alternative date or full refund.
